This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. – Psalm 92:1
With so much evil happening all around us, it can be difficult to make sense of the world we live in. I think many of us are on the look out for safe places. We want to protect the people we love from harm. The truth is, we can’t. Sure we can minimize risk, but the world we live in is dangerous and there are many things outside of our control. As Christian’s we can take comfort in the notion that God is our refuge, our place of safety, and can be trusted.
Questions for reflection:
- Do you try to control things that our outside of your ability to control?
- Is your natural inclination to trust God when circumstances our beyond your control?
- Are you dependent on other things or people as a means of coping with difficult situations?
